Receiving Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in receiving of products and in verifying and keeping records on incoming shipments. Implements and develops new ideas and strategies to reduce costs.

• Plans work schedules, assigns duties, and evaluates work for accuracy and conformance to policies. Works with management to establish and modify department operational methods and procedures.
• Schedules and prioritizes all inbound freight to avoid detention charges. Communicates daily with trucking companies, import/freight agents and supplier representatives to coordinate inbound.
• Works with sales managers and purchasing agents regarding inbound scheduling and / or prioritizing freight. Ensure that all inbound freight is accurately verified to packing slips as well as purchase orders.
• Supervises purchase order copies are accurate and delivered to the appropriate purchasing agents. Must maintain the accuracy of the inbound freight flow through daily supervisor audits and checking.
• Uses warehouse management system to effectively monitor and plan warehouse space available and adjust work assignments to ensure effective flow of inbound freight. Verifies proper rotation of all warehouse products to ensure maximum saleable shelf life. (Wine, Beer, Kegs).
• Maintains the schedule, and coordinates all outbound transfers within required time frames.
• Allocates space for new and needed products in coordination with inventory control needs to ensure best space utilization. Coordinates and controls use of off-site storage facilities as needed due to seasonal demand.
• Maintains and updates supplier value matrix weekly to support purchasing needs.

• 3+ years of experience in warehouse environment.
• College degree preferred
• Education and/or experience desirable.
